Susanne’s Review:
I know I’m late to this Party but: Let the Good Times Roll!
Captivating & Crazy, “Daisy Jones & the Six” by Taylor Jenkins Reid is wildly entertaining and well, kind of insane. Then again, It’s Rock and Roll, baby!
A story about a Rock Band that reads like real life and even has you wondering if it is real when you know it’s not? Well done, Taylor Jenkins Reid!
This character-driven plot about a rock and roll band is brilliantly written and brilliantly plotted and was all about the characters for me.
You all know the premise by now so I won’t rehash it but let me just say that the characters of Daisy Jones, Billy Dunne, Camilla Dunne, and Karen Karen really drew me in. Their stories were compelling, outrageous, and heart-wrenching. Camilla was my favorite character – even though I didn’t agree with all of her choices, I admired her strength and fortitude.
Dysfunction is highly prevalent here, as is addiction, drugs, debauchery, and infidelity, among others.
While this isn’t a life I could ever imagine, listening to the audiobook made me feel as if I was actually there, completely enmeshed in these characters’ lives and that was an incredibly strange feeling given everything they went through.
All of the narrators in this audiobook were stellar and brought this book to life. If you haven’t read this and it’s on your tbr, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook as it is sure to satisfy.
Thank you to my local library for loaning me a copy of this novel. I’m so glad I finally made the time for it.
