This was an audio version I’d been looking forward to all year. Having previously listened to Tess Bailey’s Hot and Hammered series and loving it.
This new series, It Happened One Summer features Piper Belanger, a young twenty-something influencer / party girl. No one has ever taken her seriously and she’s never had a true relationship. When her latest screwball escapade gets back to her stepfather, he decides he’s had enough. He sends her packing to the small fishing town in the pacific northwest where she was born. The same place her biological father was killed. She finds herself cut off financially until she can learn some responsibility.

I enjoyed the beginning as Piper and her sister try to settle into the small town. Piper was actually very sweet and sincere under all her drama.
When she meets the local fisherman Brendan, you know sparks are going to fly. But the couple seemed to come together too quickly, with little conflict. And as we all know, conflicts in Rom-Coms are what define the couple!😂
As for the steamy scenes, I do love my rom coms on the spicy side🌶🌶. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was just too much! Cringeworthy!🤦🏻♀️
Right now I’m on the fence if I’ll be continuing this latest series.🤷🏻♀️

I am sitting here laughing Kaceey, because I feel vindicated. It was a bit much for sure. I want to read or listen to the next one because I want Hannah’s story, but if it is not toned down, I won’t be reading anymore. Wonderful review.

Hmmm, I have the sequel to this, Hook, Line, and Sinker, but I want to read this one first. I can always close my eyes and flip past the steamy stuff! LOL

Lovely review Kaceey! I have to admit I’m actually not sorry I skipped this one though if it was too spicy, I don’t mind a little but if it gets to where the story is buried I get bored.

Thank you Jasmine. I think it’s important to know. Not everyone enjoys spicy rom coms. And even though that’s how I enjoy mine…this was just more than I could handle!🙈💖
